Walkaround reports are research aids. They are not pre-purchase inspections, mechanical evaluations, appraisals, or any form of professional advice. Read this page in full before you act on a report.

1. What a Walkaround Report Is

A Walkaround report is a written synthesis of information from public sources — government registries (FAA, Transport Canada), public accident databases (NTSB, TSB Canada), Airworthiness Directive (AD) publications, manufacturer service bulletins where publicly available, and aircraft listings — combined with curated type-specific reference knowledge and assembled with the help of large language models. The report is intended to help you have a better conversation with the seller, focus the work of a licensed mechanic, and decide whether to invest the time and money in a physical pre-purchase inspection.

2. What a Walkaround Report Is Not

A Walkaround report is not:

• A pre-purchase inspection. The standard of care for deciding whether to buy a specific aircraft is a hands-on physical inspection by a licensed Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic with the appropriate Inspection Authorization (IA), or, in Canada, a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME). No report on this site is a substitute for that inspection.
• A mechanical evaluation. We do not inspect, test, or fly any aircraft. We do not have access to the aircraft, the logbooks, or any maintenance records other than those that are public.
• An appraisal. Asking prices and value estimates referenced in a report come from publicly listed information and general type knowledge; they are not a professional opinion of value.
• Legal, financial, insurance, or tax advice. We do not advise on title, escrow, financing, insurance, importation, registration transfer, or tax matters. Consult qualified professionals for those.

3. Limits of Automated Research

Even when our underlying sources are accurate, automated research has irreducible limits:

• Public records can be stale, incomplete, or contain entry errors. Registrations can change between the time we scrape and the time you read.
• Accident databases reflect what was reported; not every event is captured, and historical events occurring before electronic record-keeping may not appear at all.
• ADs may be superseded, partially complied with, or applicable in ways that depend on serial-number ranges or modifications not visible in public data.
• Photographs in public listings may not reflect the aircraft’s current condition, and they may have been retouched.
• Type-specific knowledge in the report is general guidance, not a guarantee that any particular item applies to or absolves any particular aircraft.

4. AI-Generated Content

Walkaround uses large language models to synthesize source material into a readable report. Language models can:

• Misread or omit details from the underlying source material.
• Produce confident-sounding statements that are wrong (sometimes called “hallucinations”).
• Apply general knowledge to a specific airframe inappropriately.

We work hard to reduce these failures, but we cannot eliminate them. Treat every factual claim in a report as a hypothesis to verify in the logbooks and during the prebuy inspection — not as established fact.

5. Your Responsibility

You are responsible for your purchase decision. Before you buy an aircraft you should, at minimum:

• Have a licensed A&P/IA or AME perform a physical pre-purchase inspection.
• Personally review the airframe, engine, and propeller logbooks.
• Confirm the registration, lien status, and ownership chain with the registry of record.
• Confirm AD compliance against the logbooks, not against a synthesized report.
• Verify insurance and financing eligibility for the specific airframe with qualified providers.
• Where required, consult an aviation attorney about title, escrow, and cross-border importation.

6. No Warranty

Walkaround reports are provided “as is” and without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim, to the maximum extent permitted by law, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and completeness. We do not warrant that the report is free of errors or omissions, that it reflects the current state of any aircraft, or that any specific outcome will result from acting on it.

7. Limitation of Liability

Walkaround and its operator will not be liable for any loss, damage, cost, or expense arising out of or related to your reliance on a report, including without limitation the cost of an aircraft, repairs, lost flying time, diminished value, insurance issues, or any indirect or consequential damages. Our overall liability is limited as set out in the Terms of Service.

8. Third-Party Information

Some information presented in a report originates from third parties (for example, listing sites, government registries, and accident databases). We do not control and do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of that information. Links or references to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.

9. Affiliations

Walkaround is not affiliated with the FAA, Transport Canada, the NTSB, the TSB, AOPA, COPA, or any aircraft manufacturer, dealer, broker, escrow service, insurance provider, or financing provider. We do not receive referral fees, commissions, or revenue from any transaction you complete with a seller, broker, mechanic, or financier.
